Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) 

Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences is the apex health sciences university established by the Government of Telangana in 2014 under the KNR University of Health Sciences Act, 2014. Headquartered at Warangal. The University is dedicated to advancing excellence in medical and health sciences education, research, and healthcare services. 

As the premier health sciences university of Telangana, KNRUHS serves as the central authority for regulating and supervising medical and allied health sciences education across affiliated colleges in the state. The University plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare by nurturing skilled, ethical, and compassionate healthcare professionals committed to the well-being of society. 

Origin

Following the formation of the State of Telangana, KNRUHS was established by adopting the Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences Act through G.O. Ms. No. 20 HM&FW (C1) Department dated 26.09.2014, with its headquarters at Warangal. 

The University began functioning from the academic year 2016–17 in a renovated block within the Kakatiya Medical College campus. The foundation stone for the University Administrative Block was laid by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, in August 2016. The new administrative building was inaugurated on 21 June 2021 by the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Telangana, Shri K. Chandrashekar Rao.

Eponym

The University is named in honour of Shri Kaloji Narayana Rao, the renowned poet, freedom fighter, activist, Padma Vibhushan and champion of social justice. KNRUHS embodies his enduring values of service, integrity, compassion, and commitment to society.
